The main directions of the laboratory's research activities are:
Improvement and approbation of methods of experimental and numerical modeling of wind and snow impacts on high-rise and unique buildings and structures;
Fundamental research in the field of stability of «flexible» building structures (large-span bridge structures, pipes, masts, etc.) under dynamic wind action;
Experimental and numerical modeling of wind load on objects of an increased level of responsibility of nuclear, oil and gas, chemical and other industries, including taking into account the harsh climatic conditions of the Arctic and the Northern Latitudinal course;
Research of bioclimatic comfort of urban development and aeration of industrial and special-purpose facilities;
Improving the energy efficiency of prospective buildings based on the improvement of existing methods of developing the energy passport of the building, taking into account the refined aerodynamic characteristics;
Development of methods for modeling wind load on enclosing structures of buildings and structures, including hinged and kinetic facade systems;
Modeling of dynamic wind effects of wind gusts on building structures and their elements;
Development of perspective designs of wind power plants;
Assessment of the wind energy potential of the territory of the Russian Federation, including the territories of the Arctic zone and the Northern Latitudinal course;
Interaction of engineering structures with a thunderstorm front;
Computational and experimental modeling of the reaction of tent and inflatable structures to a uniform/turbulent wind flow;
Evaluation of acoustic effects of jet flows of various architectural forms and their combinations;
Investigation of the «whip effect» in the reactions of antenna-mast structures in the field of gradient wind flows;
Micrometeorological zoning of promising areas of capital housing and civil construction;
Simulation of the interaction of a high-speed train and infrastructure facilities of high-speed railways.
